What is Filmplace service fee?

To help Filmplace run smoothly and to cover the costs of the products and services we provide, like 24/7 customer support, we charge a service fee when a booking is confirmed.

Fees for booking a film location

We have two different service fee structures for booking a film location: a shared host and filmmaker fee and a host-only fee.

1. Shared host and guest fee

The shared host and guest fee is the standard fee structure for individual hosts.

Host service fee

This fee is 12% for most hosts but may be lower for Filmplace PRO hosts, or for listings that have a Super Strict cancellation policy. This fee is calculated from the booking subtotal (the hourly rate plus cleaning fee and any additional fee, if applicable, but excluding Filmplace fees and taxes) and is automatically deducted from the host payout.

Go to Transaction history on filmplace.co

Next to the reservation that you want to review, select the reservation code

Under Payout, you'll find the Filmplace Service Fee

Filmmaker service fee

This fee is typically 10% of the booking subtotal (the hourly rate plus cleaning fee and any additional fee, if applicable, but excluding Filmplace fees and taxes). The fee varies based on a variety of booking factors and is displayed to Filmmakers during checkout before they book a reservation. 

If Filmplace is required to collect GST, the service fee and GST amounts will be combined on the checkout page, which could make the service fee appear to be higher.

2. Host-only fee (Coming Soon)

The host-only fee structure was created so that studios and other commercial property businesses have more control over the final price paid by filmmakers. The host-only fee ranges from 15% to 25% (plus 2% for listings that have a Super Strict cancellation policy) and is the required fee structure for studios and some other categories of the commercial property rental business. Software-connected property managers can choose between a host-only fee or shared host and guest fee by going to the Service fee tab in Payments & Payouts.

GST/VAT charges on service fees

Depending on the laws of the jurisdiction involved, GST may be charged on top of the host and guest service fee. The service fee will include these GST charges when applicable.
